How I Became a Creative Conductor + Business Designer

Laying the Tracks: My journey to becoming a Business Designer started way before I even knew that was a thing. With an entrepreneurial dad who’s a Train Electrician and a super nurturing mom who’s a teacher’s assistant, I was destined to blend both worlds—building something meaningful and helping others along the way. It’s no wonder I’ve always been obsessed with trains and ideas that just keep on rolling.

Carrying the Cargo: I kicked off my career as a Graphic Designer back in 2006, diving headfirst into the colorful world of websites and collateral. But even then, I knew I was more than just a designer—I was a creator of custom solutions with a dash of flair. In my 20s, I took that customization to a whole new level with a handmade craft business, selling custom embroidery and photo albums. Crafting has always been my jam, and it’s a skill that’s kept my creative engine chugging along.

Building Momentum: As my career evolved, so did my passion for turning wild ideas into full-blown, unstoppable businesses. I launched an e-course called Home Ec that raked in $250,000 in just five months, teaching people how to whip up home-based businesses with a pinch of creativity. My next venture, Indie Business, helped hundreds of artists and service providers turn their passions into profits. That’s when I realized I had a knack for seeing the big picture—mapping out the full journey from concept to completion, all while keeping it fun and fabulous.

Enjoying the View: But it’s not just about the destination—I’m all about the journey. Working behind the scenes with hundreds of creative small businesses, I became fascinated by the inner workings—team dynamics, client relationships, systems, and processes. I learned how these elements are key for making magic happen, and I loved spotting where I could sprinkle a little extra sparkle.

Switching Tracks: This natural curiosity and problem-solving superpower led me straight to Business Design. As a Business Designer, I bring together my graphic design chops, entrepreneurial know-how, and a passion for getting things done right. I’m not just here to create pretty things—I’m here to help you build a business that’s bursting with potential.
