After beginning treatment for ADHD at the tender age of 30, I suddenly realized how much energy I had spent in my life struggling to just keep up. I excelled in language and with creative projects, but without the structure of formalized education (and even with it) I was constantly burned out.
Systems of organization have always eluded me. I tried every tutorial, resource, training, and coaching you can think of. While some pieces of each worked, many methods seemed to be built for someone else.
I would live by my to-do lists. I would make one every day. I have stacks and stacks of journals, notebooks, pads of paper, and napkins with things I just HAD to get done but almost never did.
While my dreams gathered dust on the shelf, I burned myself out time and time again taking on too much without having the right support system internally or externally to help me follow through… That’s when LA and the Train Method came to the rescue.
I wasn’t sure what to think of TM when LA first presented it to me: I do like
riding on trains, but that was about the extent of it. Leigh-Ann’s passion was
contagious, though. We sifted through the main elements of my life and after the
first session, my ideas were percolating in a way they hadn’t before.
The endless to-do lists and daunting goals quieted down a bit and I felt like i had actionable steps forward. Suddenly, my stagnant daily to-do lists had the capabilities of being versatile and movable. I had my digital train as well as a newfound obsession with post-it note trains.
The Train Method works for me because it can be applied to literally everything. Every project or task in my life, no matter how large or small, can be “Trained” and therefore, is achievable. Today, I’m using the train method in all aspects of my life to create sustainable momentum while honouring my unique strengths and challenges and natural ebbs and flows in my energy. I believe the Train Method is an answer for so many of us who are ambitious, accomplished people who feel like they are falling behind. I am someone who dreams up new creations and ideas every day and this method has allowed me to always have a place for them so they don’t get lost in the black hole of my terrible memory, and create an action plan that fits me and my life.
